How is Flowing Spirit Journeys different from other travel companies?
Our journeys are powerful adventures into the self that catalyze profound transformation. It is using travel as a means of personal growth and empowerment. It is a moving yoga retreat with sacred ceremony, connection to ancient wisdom and attunement to higher frequencies. It is a journey of CONNECTION, CONSCIOUSNESS, NATURE, AND CULTURE. Sometimes it can get uncomfortable as your boundaries on all levels are pushed and you are tested. Part of the Flowing Spirit Journey IS to push your boundaries. This is not a “make everything comfortable and cozy” kind of journey. There will be moments of challenge… and through this challenge you will grow, learn, and expand into living more fully in your highest potential. The design of the journey is to help you have the courage to go beyond your barriers, to raise your consciousness, and to open your heart.

What if I do not want to take part in some of the activities on the itinerary or want to just do my own thing?
We strongly encourage your totality throughout the journey. Although we recommend your complete participation to obtain the most profound and meaningful experience possible, we will never force any participant to partake in an activity they are really not comfortable with. We will miss you… but we will honor everyone’s decision to take a day to rest or be on their own for a little while. That being said, we want you to push your limits and we are still undergoing a deeper group process that requires each one of us to be part of the whole. We expect each person to honor the energy of the group and to not abandon the overall group process. Joining us is a conscious commitment to stay part of the group and go on a journey together. If you are having any issues coming up, please let the group leader know as soon as possible so they can do their best to assess what is best for you.
What is the accommodation like?
Accommodation for the Journeys is shared occupancy (with private available at an extra cost), in a mixture of hotels, guesthouses, palaces, bungalows, museums, family homes, ashrams, monasteries…and on some journeys even in tents and yurts. We would classify it as “luxurious and unique mid-range.” Accommodation is always comfortable, clean, and secure. We choose places that have supportive beautiful energy, a home-like atmosphere, and inspire spiritual practice.
Can I have my own room?
YES. Let us know if you would like this option and we can let you know the stipend for a single accommodation journey.

What will the food be like? What if I don’t like it or have an allergy?
Our journeys always include happy healthy foods that make our bodies and minds feel great. We will be eating mostly vegetarian, with options to include fish, and sometimes also having an option to include some meat if you like. The meals will support the activities of the journey and will be a nutritious mix of local cuisine with some western favorites. Oftentimes we will eat family style where we share many dishes and get the opportunity to sample many things, and other times you may just choose from a set menu. There will always be plenty of food to sample and you will definitely like something being offered. If you have an allergy we can make specific arrangements for you. Please let us know this ahead of time when you fill out your trip questionnaire.
What if I want to extend my trip beyond what your trip offers?
The countries to which we are traveling are certainly beautiful and full of activities beyond what we can cover in our trip. You are more than welcome to book your travel earlier than our trip starts, or to extend it. We can give you some suggestions on some of our other favorite places to visit and help to point you to the right places to make arrangements for the extra journeys. The only requirement is that you are at the arrival destination according to the itinerary, and it is best to not leave the group journey before it is completed.
Do I need to get any shots or have any medications prior to the trip?
Most of the locations we are traveling to do not require any special immunizations. We just suggest that you be up to date with your tetnnus, hepatitis and other typical immunizations. If you need a specific immunization it will be covered in your trip info packet. If you have any personal medications such as for diabetes, allergies etc., please be sure to bring them with you. The trip leader will also have a stocked first aid kit.
What if I get sick on the trip?
We really hope this doesn’t happen…but especially with the change in climate, new foods, different schedules, and new places… it is possible to get sick. Generally there are medical centers readily available as well as many natural options for healing. We do require Travel Insurance for all of our journeys to cover you in case you do have to go to a hospital or doctor. If you do get sick, we will be there to support you and make you as comfortable as possible so they you get healthy again Depending on the severity of the sickness, we may adjust the itinerary for you so that you can have more time to rest and not miss out on the journey.
Do I need to be able to speak the language of the country we are traveling to?
Certainly knowing the language of the country you are traveling to may enhance the depth of your connections with the locals you will meet, but in no way must you know the language. We encourage you to learn a few basic phrases through online resources or travel books, but it is not required. Included in your trip info packet will also be a list of phrases that will be useful. We will always have guides with us that speak the local language and can translate when necessary.
What if FSJ cancels a trip and I have already book air travel?
Though we will certainly do all in our power to make sure each of our journeys flow seamlessly and avoid cancellation, there are certainly scenarios that can jeopardize the viability of a journey. That being said, we strongly encourage travel insurance and ensure that it covers not only your goods, healthcare, but also your travel bookings. If this is not offered by your travel insurance company, it is almost always offered by the specific airline or travel companies for this very purpose.
How do I get from the airport to the first meet up location?
We will provide all travel arrangements during the trip starting with your airport arrival. There will be a trusted driver waiting for you with your name on a piece of paper. They will take you to the hotel where we will be there to greet you and welcome you on your journey!
What happens if I have to cancel my trip within the 60 day window mentioned in the refund policy?
We fully understand and hold compassion for each individual’s challenges. However, we must adhere to our policy that refunds will not be provided if cancellation happens within the 60 day window of a journey. Though a refund will not be provided, we are willing to offer a credit towards another future Flowing Spirit’s Journey.
What if I book a trip and pay my deposit then the price on the site changes?
Though we will do our best to avoid such fluctuating pricing, situations could arise as a journey draws near to have a need to raise the price. Per our policy however, your price is set at the date you commit to the journey through electronic acknowledgement and submittal of your deposit. This is a good reason to book your trip sooner rather than later.
Will we have access to phone or internet while on the trip?
On most of the journeys there will be constant internet access/cafes and telephone service to make phone calls. Cell phone access varies by the country and capabilities of your phone. On some journeys we will be in remote locations for periods of time without access to the internet and cell phone. We do encourage you disconnect from your everyday life so that you may become completely immersed in the journey. We suggest that you make all the arrangements necessary in order to have no need for a phone or the internet. If necessary, you can give the cell phone number of the trip leaders to people at home in the event that they need to reach you for an emergency.
